The exhibition discusses the myth surrounding "Alt-Wien" (inadequately translated as "old Vienna") which claims that the city's flair is based mostly on it's own history - Vienna as the world capital of retrospective thinking. The Aspects of "old versus new" and permanent nostalgia retrace 200 years of Viennese history.
Historic films, slideshows, multichannel soundscapes and kiosked websites are only some of the audiovisual elements shown in the exhibit.
A total of 19 customised DVD-Players, 5 PCs P4, 1 Mac G4, 2 projectors, 15 plasma and TFT-displays, 2 3M 17" touchscreens, 1 km of wiring and numerous other bits and pieces were implemented. Most stations were modified to "wake-up-on-power", reducing startup-time and minimising potential errors.
The use of specialised software (syncMaker PRO) allowed the precise synchronisation of avi-files over IP.
The entire AV-editing and all custom mounting-devices were done in-house.
