Fiat 522C

video still from the film by Christian Philipp Müller

The exhibition "Recollecting" shows art and objects from everyday life which belonged to jewish citizens. Their histories are retraced, focusing on the subject of restitution.

The most unusual object is a 1931 Fiat 522C which belonged to the family Glückselig and was confiscated by the SA in 1938. The car was given to the Technical Museum Vienna (Technisches Museum Wien) after World War II. In 2008, the museum first returned the car to the rightful owners and then bought it back for its permanent exhibition.

Christian Philipp Müller made a 40 minute film, showing the seemigly driverless car on a journey starting at the Technical Museum, returning to its previous address on Neulerchenfelderstrasse and then on to the exhibition site at the MAK.
